Trust: The Secret Ingredient
Building trust is a requisite for a healthy culture and a productive team. I'm currently rereading 5 Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni, and it's brilliant that he places trust at the bottom of his pyramid.
How can you have healthy disagreements without trusting your colleagues?
How can you commit years of your career to a single company without trusting its mission and direction?
How can you accept responsibility and hold others accountable without trusting them?
And how can you expect employees to place collective results above their own success without a foundation built on trust?
How can you tell a client you didn't get the results they needed?
How can you apologize to your spouse or your kids or your friends?
It takes trust flowing both ways. In business and in life.
